Governor Mitch Daniels refuses to help the long term unemployed here in Elkhart, In. Leading the nation in unemployment the past year, Mr. Daniels refuses federal aid to help the unemployed. The way it stands now, every Hoosier laid off for more than a year will run out of benefits come April 11th. With the new federal stimulus package-individual states can decide on what to do with their own unemployed and Daniels has decided to let Elkhart fall to the curbside. The RV industry usually is the first to fall and last to come back in times of recession and there is no relief in sight. Ask Daniels where is all the money for Indiana's rainy day fund going? All he has to do is change a few simple laws and the federal government will pick up the tab 100 percent for the long term unemployed-make sense to me-but then again I'm not a congressmen!
